Overview Of Las Vegas

Some people like to stay on the strip, some people find the off strip hotels more relaxing to stay at, there is a place for everyone.

Las Vegas is divided into 4 sections: north, south, east and west.

It’s shaped like a box, it has maintained this shape even with the massive expansion.

The safer parts of town are generally the south, southwest, southeast and northwest quadrants.

Old Downtown – As you might expect downtown looks exactly like what it is called, old. You will find the hotel parking facilities smaller and not as well lit as the newer casinos. The interiors do show their age and are a bit out dated. Some people like this and downtown Vegas still gets their share of visitors.

The Las Vegas Strip – The strip still has a few of the older hotels/casinos standing, but many have been replaced by either brand new structures or were given a massive face lift. Many people prefer the strip because of convenience. Walking the strip at night, the light shows and sight seeing are all attractions in their own rights.

The Local Casinos – These use to be small and dingy, but most have been renovated and are now competitive with the strip properties. The newer build ones have most of the resort features of the bigger strip hotels, this includes: entertainment, fine dinning, movie theaters, arcades, bowling alleys, a variety of restaurants and of course, lets not forget about the all you can eat buffets.

Buffet Prices – These will vary depending on the season and day of the week. On the low end (Palace Station) you will find dinner at around $9.95. At the higher end (Wynn Hotel) you can expect prices to float around $50.00, that’s per person. If you’re the type that likes the Las Vegas hotel/casino atmosphere, but you don’t like the congestion, then an off strip hotel is just right for you.

Bonnie Springs – Not to far from the Red Rock Casino is a place called Bonnie Springs. In the middle of Red Rock Canyon you will find a little getaway with wild mules, peacocks and other animals. There’s a restaurant and motel on site, but Bonnie Springs is only 20 minutes from civilization so you can stay at your favorite hotel and still visit them.
